In Support of Jon and Kate Plus 8

I just blogged about negative websites this morning. And after making my daily visits, (yes I know in essence I am supporting them by visiting their sites) I have made up my mind to go public. With what you may ask? With my support of the show Jon and Kate Plus 8.

In the beginning I was a huge fan of this show. I still am. I watch it everytime it comes on and even record it to go back and watch later. As of the last two weeks I was indifferent to the show because of all the sites I had been visiting, but after thinking about it and talking to my husband about this subject I made up my mind. I made up my mind to not be a follower but rather to lead my own path even if it goes against the louder voice.

I am standing up and saying that yes I am a fan. I am a big fan. I love the show and the kids. I love looking at how they are growing and seeing the developmental cycles that each child is going through. No I do not think that any of them will have any emotional trauma when they grow up as long as they don't go to any of those hateful sites. While I do not always agree with Kate's parenting style, I see alot of myself in her. (By the way, my husband does too and he's only seen the show twice.) I laugh about this because I understand her frustration about certain things.

I don't think that it is right for anyone to begrudge this family because they are blessed. Hey, they got someone interested in doing a show on them. And having 2.5 million viewers tune every week is saying something. Am I mad that she got to go to Disney World for free or to Utah for free? No. If anything I would tell them to take it. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, who wouldn't take the chance. Also I have not seen them mention in the recent months (except on reruns) that they do not have the money to do certain luxuries. And Kate is quick to admit if they were not given it free it would be hard for them to do it for ten people. I believe it to be true. Going to Disney World is expensive for 4 people let alone 10.

I understand some of you think they are making a living off of their children, but if that was the case, then why are they on TV airing their own faults as well. They would only put on their kids. I will admit that if a film production company showed up on my doorstep tomorrow and asked to tape my family and our struggles on a one person income then I would say sure for a small fee. I would not turn away money from different companies that would want me to promote their stuff. I would be the first one on camera to say "Give your kids Juicy Juice...It's good for them." I would do it because I know that it was helping my family financially and I am going to provide my children with a better future. But to sit up here and say you wouldn't take a $20,000 dollar check because it is wrong to promote a V-Tech game system because people see your kids playing it on TV is just plain dumb.

Sorry to get off subject, but really you can say what you want when your in the lynch mob, but silently I bet your thinking something else. Hey say what you want, but stand up for you believe in and I believe that Jon and Kate are not getting a fair shake and I am a fan of the show. I would do the same for my family.

I beleive this is an excellent post and I feel the exact same way. I love the show. I probably discovered it a year ago, and have been hooked ever since. I was actually thinking about posting a response very similar to yours on another blog.

I visit each of the sites every day to read what people have to say, and for the most part, I think people are way to harsh on Jon and Kate. If someone offered to do a reality show of me and my children, I'd go for it. If they asked me to wear a GAP t-shirt, I'd wear it every day. I see absolutely no harm in this...it's called advertising!! Also as far as the speaking engagments, if you are outraged, don't go and don't support them.

I've also read how people don't think Kate treats Jon right. I believe this is just an accurate portrayol of real life...the "hitting," the eye rolling, a little bickering. Everyone does this! For those who say otherwise live in a dreamland.

Lastly, all of the stuff I've read on the blogs changes nothing for me on the show. Sure, I'd love to know the true story between Kate and her family, but I doubt we ever will. I applaud their efforts to create a great life for their family. Now their kids can get what a lot of families can't, and who should fault them for that. If you don't like it, just don't watch the show!!

Again, great blog!

I'm the same, thank you for saying it. I absolutely LOVE j&K +8. I think it's an amazing blessing that they have this opportunity to get extra income because they need it. They have 8 kids to put in college, cars, and all the clothes. Yes, I know they get some promotional items for free, but they still buy a lot themselves. I know it's hard for us to clothe 3 kids. And they don't get to do handme downs really. I also agree if someone wanted to pay me to promote something or put my family on tv because they thought I'd be interesting I would definately do it. Especially if my husband didn't have to work anymore and we got to take family trips for free. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity!!! I get so angry with those other blogs but try to forget them. And they should be remembering "to each their own". And the judgement of others is left up to God, not us.
thanks again for starting a positive blog about them!

I was just reading a bunch of negative blogs myself and I was absolutely appalled. So I am really glad that you voiced exactly what I was talking about with my boyfriend just this afternoon. I also see a lot of myself in Kate and I think that she and Jon do the best they can. If I had the opportunity to go to Disney World for free, or Hawaii, or anywhere else I would go. They wouldn't be able to take their kids otherwise so why not give them the trip of a lifetime. I think that people need to stop being jealous of the fabulous opportunities that Jon and Kate are getting and let them raise their kids how they want. People need to stop worrying about other people and focus on themselves.

I absolutely agree! I love J&K+8! I have watched this show since "Surviving Twins and Sextuplets" aired the very first time. I am disgusted by the way most media portrays this family. Can you imagine if the families of the people who wrote such awful articles were on camera like this? Sure Kate can be a little over the top sometimes, but she absolutely loves her husband and her children. They are a God-fearing family, and I believe they will come out of this experience so much stronger and we will be blessed by their reality once again. Because that's what their show is for me. Total inspiration. We may have meltdowns, we will never please everyone, but EVERY SINGLE effort is worth it. And at the end of the day, we're a family, and we're in this TOGETHER!
